itunes contents didn't populate back into itunes completely.

hi experts,

I backed up my itunes and then I restored the Music folder but I realized I am missing many albums and all of the playlists. What do I need to do to get all my albums/playlists back on my computer?

Hi frankbustos,

Please verify this. When the music folder was backed up, it should contain iTunes content files and folder such as .xml and .itbd and .itl files. Depending where you had your music stored, if you had an external source such as an external hard drive or music stored in a different directory other than Music you will need to relocate them and add them through iTunes.

The playlists and albums are stored in Music directory as default, if you can't locate them you will need to simply search you PC for a iTunes folder --> locate it ---> copy it and paste it onto your new computer Music directory.

Once you open iTunes, it will automatically read the playlist and albums from previous settings. Make sure you either install a new version of itunes or the same version as previously installed, don't install an older version because you will run into errors when opening iTunes.
