I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I have an HP 8500 on a Windows 7 (and Windows 8) computer. Both are 64-bit. No problems with the printer.

Remove the Printer in Devices and Printers, click on any printer to reveal the sub menu. Click on the Drivers tab and remove the HP 6100 driver.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW and allow to complete. Restart the computer.

Now download the most recent HP driver for Windows 7 64-bit and reinstall it. See if that fixes the issue.

Hi,

Remove the driver using this:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&softwareitem=mp-49137-1

Remove any applications associated with your HP Printer

Run SFC /Scannow
restart

Run a chkdsk /f
Restart again - Let chkdsk run for how ever long and dont skip it.

Download most recent drivers from HP site.

Reinstall printer.

If this doesn't work, check your event log and let me know what your system event log records the BSOD.  (A virus can cause a printer to bluescreen!)

First thing I would suggest is looking at the system logs, find the error and post it.  That would give great insight in to what is occurring.  Find the log that its time stamp is closest to the error.

Let the troubleshooting begin!

Boot into safe-mode and use a malware/ antivirus scanner to verify that your system is not infected. Check quarantined on your AV and see if there were previous malware occurrences.

Before you begin anything, is Windows fully updated?  I just viewed the screen shot and could sworn MS released a patch for this issue.
