Name Servers & Records

Hi Experts,

I just had an issue with my own email/website and one other clients,

Not sure what has happened but it seems that something has pointed my A and MX records to an old IP address where my email & website was being hosted some months ago, even though my records in Zoneedit had the correct info.

mxtoolbox showed it is at the old ip address I am using Zoneedit for all my records as mentioned above.

In the attachment Global DNS Propagation shows some countries as the current address where it is meant to be and about half the other countries show the old address.

I have just fixed this by changing my A record to a false zone and changing back again but would really love to know how the heck it happened!!!

thanks in advance

What is the time to live value for your A / NS records? If it is set to high value then it will take time before it propagates to all DNS servers.

You may always set TTL of your records to low value (say 1 Hour) one day before you do the change, then change the record and the set TTL to higher value (say 1 day).

Hi,

I didnt make any changes but the TTL is usally set about 1800.

Pretty sure Zoneedit is the culprit as to why I dont know.... but no doubt they will deny it.
What is the zones refresh/reload policy of your hosting company?
