shared drive

I have a user that needs to access a shared folder only problem I have is that I don't know how to map share as I don't know the path.  I have tried to map to the server but it gives an error.
I am able to do a search for the folder in run command in win 7 and show the folder but it is the permanent share that I require.

any ideas?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

From GUI, you type in \\servername\sharedfolder  (i.e. \\server1\sharedfiles)
