Desktop is detecting my flash drive but NOT SHOWING IT in My computer

When I plug in my flash drive I get messages from the systray saying that my device is ready for use but when I go into My Computer, I don't see it.

How can I fix this?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Run diskmgmt.msc

Verify it's formatted/partitioned correctly, and if so, assign it a drive letter.

I've frequently seen this due to a drive letter conflict.  i.e. The flash drive tries to pull e: or f: but you already have that mapped, so it just sits there.

right-click on partition for context menu item to change drive letter

Of course another method would be to use WinObj, DosDev (extract with 7-zip), or similar to obtain the GLOBALROOT identifier and mount it yourself.

mklink /d c:\temp \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolume2\

dosdev x: \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolume2\
Is it a laptop? If so, reboot the USB controller by shutting down, removing the battery, and restarting. Can sometimes get rid of weird errors like this
