Outlook 2007, Gmail and Outlook - mail remains in Draft-folder

My customer wants to use his Gmail-account in Outlook 2007, so I've configured an IMAP-account for him.

It works well to receive mail and while configuring the account, a test mail was sent out correctly.

BUT - when writing a new mail and selecting Gmail as the account (my customer has an Exchange-account as well for another account) and click on the Send-button, the mail always are going to the Draft-folder and stays there. I've tried with different addresses but the mails are never sent.

Any ideas what to do?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I don't think gmail allows imap. I know it uses POP.
