"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Can you give an example of where you have seen this that would be for encryption?

Many times a press release is sent out and is embargoed until a future date.  This means the news media/blog that receives the release should not publish until after the date and time of the release.   It is more of an unwritten rule.  I imagine somebody breaking the embargo would probably no longer receive the pre release.

As far as links, I have not heard of this until I searched.  I believe it is the same thing, a link that should not be published until a specific date.  You may see 2 links, one for the public and one private that has an embargo until a specified date.
