Microsoft Word 2007 Randomly Freezes

A client of mine is using Word 2007 and notices that his windows randomly freeze.  The window becomes white with the waiting cursor, however he is able to use other windows while this happens.

Anyways, we've tried the following:

+Ran all Windows Updates / service packs on the software.
+Deleted Normal.dotm
+Reset Word to factory settings.

Any other ideas?

Did you try repairing Word 2007 (Office 2007)?
Tony GiangrecoCommented:
I agree an Office repair would be the first item to run.

2nd, id check the event logs to see what's happening that could effect his Pc. Look for anti virus errors, disk errors....

Clear temp files & temp internet files.

I actually did run an office repair, and routinely clean out temporary and internet files.

Where should I go to look in the event log?  Will an event be prompted when the program freezes or should I look for other entries?

Do you get the same problem if you create a new user profile on the same PC?

Sometimes, it seems, MS Word gets hung up on a buggy profile.

(Also, I've heard that rebooting the PC can help)

I'll try a new user profile - the guy can definitely use that.

Any other ideas welcome in the meanwhile.
