"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Just make sure it's a min 2X or faster drive (Which nowadays most are) and you should be fine.

It doesn't need to be a specific model i.e. any blu-ray player.  Or is there a specific 3D version of blu-ray players?

No, any model will do. It's really just a marketing thing for manufactures to add a 3d sticker to the box.
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't had any problems with my 8x blue ray rom.
