Vmware VMTools and VMhardware 7 to 9 upgrade possible issue ?

I need to know what are the things that I need to know before upgrading my production VMs from VM hardware version 7 into version 9, can you please share it here ?

some VM got VMXNet 3 vNIC and Paravirtual SCSI controller for the RDM, are they going to be lost or must be reconfigured again after the Vmware tools upgrade and VM hardware version upgrade ?

1. Backup up the Virtual Machines.

2. Upgrade and Install VMware Tools FIRST!

3. Upgrade Virtual Machine Version from 7 to 9.

Your current devices will not be affected. Version 9.0 just adds new features to the VM.

You only need to upgrade the virtual machine version if you need to take advantage of new features.

To upgrade the virtual machine version the VM needs to be OFF.

OK  so I assume once it is shutdown and then upgraded to v9 the OS should be working as normal no need to do any reconfig for the paravirtual hardware ?
