Multiple / Back to Back BSOD

Greetings.

I've got to the point of going insane over the amount of BSOD I've experienced in the past month.
This is a self built desktop that was meant to replace my 7 year old one, but I could't use it due to the constant bsod whenever I try to play 3D application or do heavy multitasking.
Here are the specs:

AMD A6-5400K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics
4.3 GHz
4.0 GB RAM
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series

The BSOD is very random to constant, I could get a bsod from watching a youtube video to playing a simple game, just to restart to my desktop and instantly bsod again.
but most of the time it would happen if I try to use any 3D application, the chance of it to happen varies and very random, sometimes it will not occur for couple hour, sometimes up to 5 time under an hour.

Ive constantly checking for driver updates and other things but not much have been able to pin point out what is the cause.
I've noticed BCCode: 1000007e is the most often appeared crash code during 3D application being used.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
I've attached multiple crash dump, thank you for helping analyzing it.

Hi,

BSOD could be caused by many things but if this is happening when the system is under load it could be due to the system overheating.

You may want to check the temperature of the system and make sure it is within the safe working limits of the hardware. If it getting too hot look at adding extra cooling.

I would recommend a large fan at the bottom of the front panel (If possible) that is set to blow air into the case and then a couple of smaller fans are the rear which are removing air from the case (This works best if at the top of the rear panel)

Remember with fans its not how many you have its how you use them to circulate the air round the case efficiently.

it also refers to : OVERLAPPED_MODULE: Address regions for 'dump_dumpata' and 'usbcir.sys' overlap

usbcir.sys points to an usb device, using infra red - do you have one?

21964 says :  IMAGE_NAME:  dxgmms1.sys  which is a directx file
it also refers to the overlapped module

did you run a ram diag yet? if not do so, best download the ubcd on known working PC, and make the CD - then boot your "bad" one from the cd
Hardware diagnostic CD    UBCD
i suggest the UBCD  to run some diags first - to be sure about the basics
go to the download page, scroll down to the mirror section, and  click on a mirror to start the download
Download the UBCD and make the cd   <<==on a WORKING PC, and boot the problem PC from it
Here 2 links, one to the general site, and a direct link to the download

since the downloaded file is an ISO file, you need to use an ISO burning tool
if you don't have that software, install cdburnerXP : http://cdburnerxp.se/

If you want also the Ram tested - run memtest86+ at least 1 full pass,  - you should have NO errors!

For disk Diagnostics run the disk diag for your disk brand (eg seagate diag for seagate drive)  from the HDD section -  long or advanced diag !  (runs at least for30 minutes)

Hello
Thanks for the replys.
Contigo1 - I've always set an temperature watch and made sure its working under safe temperature at around 60 degree max.

Nobus -

it also refers to : OVERLAPPED_MODULE: Address regions for 'dump_dumpata' and 'usbcir.sys' overlap
This meant that the AVG security software is causing the bsod? what should I do in regard of this particular crash?

usbcir.sys points to an usb device, using infra red - do you have one?
Yes I'm currently using a pair of Logitech wireless Keyboard and Mouses.

21964 says :  IMAGE_NAME:  dxgmms1.sys  which is a directx file
it also refers to the overlapped module
This particular one is the most caused and most seen as known as the BCCode: 1000007e
Whenever a 3D application is run

I've run a couple of memory diag using the system tool that come with the OS, the result came back clean and no problem were found with the ram.
as for the other option I do not have acess to another computer right now, as well as this computer optical drive is currently broken.

I also would like to point out is that I'm currently Overclocking the system.
It was the only way I could use the computer without constantly crashing and bsod every minutes.
3D application would crash a few minute, and heavy duty tasking would instantly cause a bsod, I had to resort to Overclocking to able to keep it some what stable.
AVG : uninstall it, and try Avast, or another free one to test it
usbcir.sys : disconnect it, and test with a wired usb keyb + mouse
also - turn off overclocking

what ram model are you using?  does it figure on the mobo's recommended ram list?
Avatar of Rytlock

ASKER

I've uninstalled AVG, thank you for the Avast recommendation, I will try it.
Ive switched to a wired keyboard/Mouse.
Overclock is turned off and bios is now reset to default, (can't do much here in this mode)

My Ram is CORSAIR Vengeance 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model
as for the list, uh I'm not too sure how to check that
my mobo is the asus motherboard m5a97
you can  look in your motherboard manual, or on it's site
here the QVL - http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=M5A97&p=1&s=24

your mobo model doesnot have extensions?  there are 7 types of it, see :  http://support.asus.com/download/ModelList.aspx?SLanguage=en&keyword=m5a97&type=1

**i have used faor the latest months the free Panda Cloud AV  - seems to run well also

ugh, my very apology.
The mobo model was actually F2A85-M
I've looked into the memory and Corsair was not in the supported list.

My apologize
the UBCD never got to work, after a few unsuccessfully failed CD Burn (I have no idea why) I tried make a flash usb stick and make bootable img, which ended up does absolutely nothing.
I never solved the issue but I wanted to end the question as there seem to be no end to the chain of bad luck to this.
Thank you so much for sticking with me.

did you follow this suggestion : "Download the UBCD and make the cd   <<==on a WORKING PC"

I'm sorry for not able to replied for a while.
I was able to finally made a UBCD cd and ran the mem test as well as disk diagnostic, both come out with no error at all.
if we can help, just say so!

helps is always welcome, I just felt bad because this problem almost seems no end to it.
I ran a system stability test overnight for 9 hours with the UBCD and there wasn't any error after the passes.
I downloaded driver check software, turn out there was a few outdatted driver that I updated.
but the bsod still persist, this time especially the stop code 3B, without even playing any game.
at this point I really don't know what to do
how long did the ram and disk test run? be aware, for a test to be conclusive you must run it at least for 2x the time between occurences of the problem (eg, if it occurs once aday, you have to run it at least for 2 days = not practical)

ok - post the latest dmp file
here some possibilities to check further :
1-can it be overheating?  install speedfan then, to monitor the temps :
http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php

2-run with a minimum devices connected : no external devices (if possible) disconnect extra cd and disk drives, as described in my article : https://www.experts-exchange.com/Hardware/Components/Motherboards/A_1945.html                  (Short-overview-of-how-to-troubleshoot-bad-hardware-when-a-pc-does-not-post)

i add also how to handle disk problems :
https://www.experts-exchange.com/Storage/Hard_Drives/A_3000-The-bad-hard-disk-problem.html

3-run msconfig, and select the startup tab - then click disable all
select services tab, and click "Hide MS services" now click disable all
reboot to test

4-take another disk, and install any OS on it - xp, W7, or ubuntu;
if that runs well - your hardware looks ok, and the problem stems from soft

Hi
The Ram and Disk test ran for about 2 hour on each, which is way longer then it usually take for a bsod to occur (about once every 10-20min)

As for speedfan -
CPU : 46C IDLE / 57-70C Activate (gaming)
Mobo: 35C IDLE / 39-45C Activate (gaming)
GPU: 39C IDLE/ 45-50C Activate (gaming)

as for 2 and 4, I do not have any acess to another disk at the moment, but I will keep you update once I do and try so.

I've upload a handful of dmp files in a zip, the reason for this is some of them are back to back in different crash code, perhaps you could see something out of that.

I'll do the msconfig and let you know if it change anything.

Thank you very much.
dump.zip
Maximum operating temperature  ?  70°C

092213 says : IMAGE_NAME:  dxgmms1.sys
092313 : PROCESS_NAME:  atkexComSvc.ex

and this could be your problem :  But that software  ASUS AI II  comes with a memory leak in atkexcomsvc.  do you have it??

so thats why It keep freezing whenever the system goes too hot (70)

Yes, I do have ASUS AI II Suite and been using it for a while, should I just get rid of it?
Avatar of Rytlock

Haven't able to do anything without running OC ever since you have me turn it off.
Application and Games usually just froze or most the time would crash/close abruptly.
With the OC running there seem be more frequency in BSOD, but without the OC the system pretty much a cripple, even with the less frequence BSOD.
i would check the heatsink and cooling; it is not normal that you get this high in temperature - unless the surrounding temp is too high

note that by running like that for long - the cpu may be damaged
but you can test that by installing any os on another disk for testing  : XP, w7, or UBUNTU (free) as i posted
Avatar of Rytlock

ASKER

I've cleaned out the heat sink and fan, they usually around 47-53C MAX at work, what would be a normal temperature for the CPU to be?
you applied new heatpaste?  and verified the heatsink sits flat on the cpu?.
it looks too hot, since the max = 70°
Avatar of Rytlock

ASKER

ah no I only just clean out the dust and everything, I din't actually remove them and apply new heat paste.
but I did see a dramatic decrease in temperature, which around 40 to 50 now in opposite of the normal 60-70
that looks better then
test with and without OC'ing

Hi Nobus.
I'm currently testing it while overclocked, been running it a couple day without OC
I'll report back in fews day, don't want to jump to conclusion just yet.

Thanks.
ok  - take your time!
