Different citrix versions running on one pc

In our environment we have several citrix servers provided by third parties. We have no control over these servers.

Is there a way to have both v11 and v12 Citrix clients running on the same pc? Once you upgrade to v12 it isnt possible to connect to the v11 programs. v12 upgrade removes v11 and the program neighbourhood feature, which then means we cant use the apps running on v11.

Just use the Virutal VDI, or VM in order to identify which clients and u can compare effectively.

Perhaps use an App-v/Portable type client or use the java based client.

Well, if program neighbourhood is something so important, then why don't you keep the V.11 plugin and use it with the different vendors?

However, I strongly recommend to go for the latest plugins to leverage the new technologies within rather than remaining on the old practice - I quote from Citrix:

Q: What is replacing Program Neighborhood?

A: Citrix encourages customers to leverage Citrix Receiver as the best practice for delivering simple and consistent access to corporate desktops and applications from any device that the employee chooses to use. Receiver automates plug-in updates by checking the server for new versions as they become available. For customers who do not implement Citrix Receiver, newer versions of the Citrix online plug-in will be introduced periodically to include enhancements to the interface and core functionality.

Q: Why is Citrix taking this action?

A: Citrix has invested significantly in evolving its client technology to meet broader business requirements and user needs. The release of Citrix Receiver offers a more robust set of capabilities that simplify desktop and application delivery for IT. Receiver enables users to connect to their corporate applications from whatever device is convenient – a desktop or laptop PC, Macintosh, or even a Mac iOS or Android device– with a new and simplified interface.

I think the message i am getting is that it isnt possible to run both versions, or to use virtualization as a workaround?

I will have to consider my options therefore. Thanks.
