I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The only 4G-enabled BlackBerry handset are the version 10 handsets: The Z10, Q10 and Q5.

Thanks for your reply.

I have read a certain amount of people running a 4G SIM on a 3G device, and picking up a near 4G service?

Has anyone else seen this in action?

Hi Lloyd,

You can get a reasonable download speed with a 3G SIM if the network signal strength is suitable. I've seen 8Mbps speeds on a 3G SIM. (I've seen 4G hitting speeds of 30Mbps recently.) 4G makes a huge difference on upload speed, though. You won't get anywhere near the upload speed from a 3G device like the 9900.

Hope this helps,

Mike
