"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I'm a huge fan of (the FREE!) AutoHotkey:
http://www.autohotkey.com/

It is an incredibly powerful macro/scripting/programming language. It doesn't have a macro recorder out-of-the-box, but here's one posted in the AutoHotkey user forum:
http://www.autohotkey.com/board/topic/79763-macro-creator-v384-automation-tool-recorder-writer/

It is a simple, yet robust, scripting language – an excellent freeware product!

There is good documentation:

...a decent tutorial:

...and active user forums:

In terms of AutoHotkey examples, here are five articles I've written with complete AutoHotkey programs:

http://www.experts-exchange.com/Web_Development/Document_Imaging/A_10745-How-To-Combine-Merge-Append-TIFF-Files-in-Batch-Mode.html

http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Misc/A_11173-How-To-Rename-Move-a-Batch-of-PDF-Files-Based-on-Contents-of-the-Files.html

http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Misc/A_11211-How-To-Split-Rename-Move-a-Batch-of-PDF-Files-Based-on-Contents-of-the-Files.html

http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Misc/A_12253-Count-and-Total-Size-by-File-Type.html

http://www.experts-exchange.com/Networking/Windows_Networking/A_12272-Test-IP-Addresses-with-PING.html

They should give you a good sense for how to use AutoHotkey, but none of them uses the Macro Creator. For that, I suggest reading this topic thoroughly:
http://www.autohotkey.com/board/topic/79763-macro-creator-v384-automation-tool-recorder-writer/

Also, note the link to Pulover's own page:
http://www.autohotkey.net/~Pulover/

You may also want to google "autohotkey macro recorder", as there have been other efforts at it. But I don't have my own small demo/example of using any of them (and my bandwidth to create one is limited at this time). Regards, Joe
