Finding a Device's Connection History

I'm working on a Server 2011 box and I see that at some point a new hard drive was added.  At the very least, I'd like to know when that device was added to this server.  BUT I'd really like to see when this device has and has not been available to the network.  Is there someplace I can go to see a device's history with a given box?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

From what I understand, most OSs do not store this information because it would take up too much space. There is a registry key that has information about usb device history and a free utility to access that information is USBDView
