Connecting USB Barcode Scanner to use with Citrix

Hi Experts,

I have Honeywell barcode scanner model MS7120 that I want to use in a citrix session.

The device is installed on a physical machine running Windows 7 32 bits. I can see the scanner on the Windows 7 machine but when I log into the citrix desktop the barcode scanner does not show up.

I am running Citrix Xenapp 6.0 on Windows Server 2008 R2 OS.

Also, the Xenapp server is a virtual machine.

Any thoughts on how to get this device working ?

Thanks

I've never actually tried to map a USB device to a virtualised XenApp server but I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work providing you don't have any policies preventing client device port / client USB port mapping. In fact I've had scenarios with some sites where these policies had to be explicitly enabled anyway.

However, there are certain limitations such as those listed here: http://support.citrix.com/proddocs/topic/xendesktop-bdx/cds-xa-xd-usb-limits-bdx.html

In essence it states you need to plug the scanner into the client before you connect to XA.

Unfortunately there are just some USB devices that don't play nicely with XA.

Have you setup the correct  policies to allow client USB redirect?

Thank you both for your help.

The scanner was programmed to use a serial port. I reset the scanner back to the original configuration and it worked perfectly.

Thanks again
