W2012 No such interfaced supported

I had just finished installing SQL Server 2012 onto my W2012 server and suddenly all of my desktop icons vanished. I tried logging out and back in and the icons appeared but when I click on any of them I get the message "No such interface supported". I have had others user try to login and now they all have the same problem. I cannot even run Windows Explorer. Is there anything I can do? My thought now is to trash W2012 and go back to W2008R2. Any suggestions on how to get W2012 functional again?

We brought Microsoft in on this one. What had happened is a developer had RDP'd into the server while an admin was also RDP'd into the server. The admin had changed the security rights on a leaf of the registry. The second that happened, everyone's desktop was hosed with the exception of the admin. I took Microsoft three support call sessions to get everything back to normal. I had just been in doing the SQL install while this was happening.
