Lync 2013 mobile client is unable to connect with LYNC 2010 environment

In our environment, we are planning to introduce Lync 2013 mobile client for end users, LYNC 2013 desktop clients are successfully connecting  using our Lync 2010 infrastructure, but Lync 2013 mobile clients(Ipad, Iphone users) are unable to connect. Out intention is to keep the Lync 2010 back end infrastructure as it, but we intend to upgrade mobile client from Lync 2010 to Lync 2013. Appreciate if you kindly assist to know the followings:

1) What are the procedures involved if we intend to connect using Lync 2013 mobile client, keeping the existing Lync 2010 infrastructure.
2) What are the technical upgrade will be required in Lync 2010 infrastructure, if we intend to introduce  Lync 2013 mobile client. Appreciate if you please provide me steps and necessary weblink to perform the same.
My Lync Infrastructure brief: Lync edge server, Lync DB server(SQL),FE,Exchange UM for Lync 2010.
