Is it possible to recover the product key from an Office 2013 installation?

I need to find out which product keys were used to install MS Office 2013 on three machines. I have tried Magical Jellybean Keyfinder, Produkey, Belarc advisor and three or four other freeware/free trial programs. None of these were able to recover the Office 2013 key.

After searching Google, there are a few others with this query yet it is always left unresolved.

Does anyone know if it is actually possible to recover the product key from Office 2013?

Is there another way to recover keys without these utilities?

The difference is between Home and Business Office 2013 and Office PRo.  I am yet to find a way to get Home and Business keys

I tested ProduKey from Nirsoft and it works. It displayed the Office 2013 key on the computer I'm writing this.

Produkey didn't work for me on Windows 7 x64, MS Office Home and Business 2013.

Office 2013 is not listed under Supported products for Produkey either.
There is one specific for 64-bit:

If your license is a Microsoft Volume Licensing it wont work.

Depending on the OS version and 32/64 bit you are running, most tools don't report the product keys properly. We tried it on a network of 45 PC's running Win7 64 and XP 32, They had a mixture of Office 2003, 2007, 2010 & 2013. Some reported the product keys properly, some didn't.

We had a master list but wanted to confirm them and we found descrepencies.

We used these free tools

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the replies all, but I have tried all the free tools mentioned to no avail (I did use the x64 versions for 64 bit machines etc).

The keys we have are OEMs.

TG-TIS: Do you know if any of the machines which reported the keys properly were running Office 2013?

I am starting to get the impression that the way Office 2013 stores the product key is not compatible with key retrieval software. These tools read the product key from the registry, and after looking in the registry where previous versions of Office store the key, it was not there for Office 2013.

Those who claim to have successfully retrieved Office 2013 keys using Produkey must be slightly confused...

I have just emailed the creators of Produkey and Magical Jellybean Keyfinder about this issue. Apparently Office 2013 does not store the product key in the system, only the last 4 or 5 digits, so key recovery software will not work.

Not sure why Microsoft chose to make this so, but I guess if you want to recover a key you will need to contact them.

I will post back here if I find a way to get the keys.
