VMX24 - Disable certain unexposed features

Because VMware virtual machines are designed to work on both vSphere as well as hosted virtualization platforms such as Workstation and Fusion, there are some VMX parameters that don't apply when running on vSphere. Although the functionality governed by these parameters is not exposed on ESX, explicitly disabling them will reduce the potential for vulnerabilities.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

According to the PDF hanccocka provides this warning has to do with the transafer of file from the guest os and host. This is used for feature such ast Vmtool installs.

Like with an security scan you have to view the results as to how the highlight issues really affect your company.  What I'm trying to say is the secure requirements for a hospital would differ from that of a school district...  If locking down your environment prevents users from doing their jobs then in reality what have you gained by locking down your environment.

Hope this makes sense..

If you have a test ESXi host you may want to applied it to these servers first instead of your production servers to make sure the change does what you hope.

Just a suggestion.
