I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You've probably already read that .vce files are written for use with VisualCert Exam software
(http://www.avanset.com/) which is commercial a paid-for package for distributing exam formats ($30 for a licence to read-only).  So the answer to Q1 is you're not going to be able to open them for free legally.

For your Q2 there's no 'freeware' but you can download VCE as a trial package and during the trial period you can open files in VCE and print them to any freeware pdf virtual printer. With the unlicensed version you'll only get to print the first 5 questions of any paper though.

Generally with the .vce format making static .pdf copies isn't that helpful as many of the pages are dynamic and respond to the answers you make following a decision tree. But it may be helpful just for the static question pages.

If $30 is all that's needed to get VisualCert software & I can read the multiple
.vce files, that's not too bad.  Just concerned that after getting this reader, I'll
still run into issues using those vce files.  any trial version of this VisualCert
reader to test if it works?

They offer a 30-day unlimited money-back warranty on the software and a lifetime licence.

Also if you've got files that won't open you can upload them for support.

There are some "unofficial" sites that offer .vce (especially the MS Exams) which simply don't work so get them from sites you trust.
