Microsoft 2007 License Key

I am trying to install my 2007 Office Professional on my new Windows7 box.  I keep getting and invalid key error.  I know the number is correct.  Is there a solution?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Licence keys are different for Retail, OEM and volume media - the key you have must not match the media type you are using.

What type of license do you have: MAK, OEM, or Retail?

I think it is OEM.  I know it was purchased.  It is not a "borrowed" key.  I own it.

Did it come with the PC when you bought it?

Do you have a CD for it?

akbiroAuthor Commented:
not the original CD a copy of the original...if have used it before to reload when I had an error.

Okay. How was the original CD obtained?

When are you receiving the "wrong key" error?

[Need not answer, if you do not want to: what are last 5 letters (and digits) of the product key?]

Key seems genuine.

Do you have any older version(s) of Office installed on the machine?

If you do, please uninstall them using the Microsoft FixIt from here:

Cleanup (CCleaner); restart; and reinstall Office 2007.

I made sure there were no versions of office on the new computer,  ran CC and rebooted.  this time when i tried to load office, i skipped the first installation key request and installed the software.  however, now it is installed and it still sill not accept the license key.  Any more ideas...please.

[Note: Is this key being used on another Office 2007 installation on another computer?]

akbiroAuthor Commented:
Yes...I have this key on my old computer.  I need to transfer everything to my new computer before I reformat the old one and get rid of that copy of Office.

OK - if it came with one computer and it won't install on another its probably an OEM version - OEM software is NOT transferrable from one machine to another.
