Wil not boot pass the HP invent screen

HP Pavilion P6404Y
Will not boot pass HP Invent splash screen
options are:
ESC for boot menu
F9 for diagnostics
F11 system recovery
F10 for Setup

I tried all
F10 acts like it's going to let me into BIOS but simply does nothing
F9 let me into diag. once but I can't get into it anymore
When I did get in diag told me it could not find drive and to check cables
which I did reseat, I also pulled out 3 of 4 RAM sticks, same issue
I also unplugged power and press start button for 20 seconds to drain

any suggestions?

Disconnect power cable to tower...and then disconnect cmos battery. Wait for 20 minutes. Connect the battery back and check.

For sure it is a hardware error.
Have you tried also to remove the battery in procedure to drain?

You can also try to remove HDD or replace it with another one if available to see if the bios will work normally.
If not, than you can try to reset bios. And if also this will not help I guess your MB is gone.

Test the drive in another PC. If the BIOS sees it, run the disk manufacturer's diags on it, which you'll find on the UBCD:

here my laptop troubleshooting guide, i hope it helps you :
- remove all external devices
-you can disable devices from BIOS to test (sound, lan, etc..)
- if no display - test with an external monitor
- test if it runs from battery alone, or from AC alone
- test also with a known good battery !
- disconnect all disk and cd drives, battery , and other cards and peripherals, leave only 1 ram stick and - boot --> Can you go into the BIOS ?
-if you can access the bios battery, remove the battery, AC, and bios battery for a minute to reset the bios
or test it, it should read 3 V
*** you can test the disk on another pc, if you like !

===>>you can test if the mobo works outside the casing, connected to power and external video  !

After you boot in bios you need to change the hard drive mode ...not sure what you have set but play with  raid, ahci , legacy etc ...save it and restart pc.

I just let it drain again and it started booting Windows and went into a Autochk
and states "cannot run due to an error caused by a recently install s.w. package. Use the system restore feature from control panel to restore
recent s.w. package installation. an unspecified error occurred (766f6c756d652e63 3fi)

then it bluescreens

I just tried a new drive and installing Windows 7
the install does not see the new drive
I checked BIOS, no RAID, clock was off
I also have to let it drain for at least 20 minutes for it to boot and give me the options to go into setup or install from CD or USB

The best is probably for you to look on ebay or other similar portal for a Pavilion p6404y board.
