MS Outlook 2007 - out of space problem.

Hi, I'm using MS Outlook 2007 as my mail client. I've never had any significant problems with it over the years, but I recently added several a large PST archive file that I needed to review. After reviewing the email for a while, I'm now getting an error message that says that my Outlook.pst file has reached its maximum size. I cannot save, I cannot send mail, etc.

Other than going through and deleting emails, or removing the archived PST files, is there a way to correct this problem? Is there a way to simply - increase - my maximum Outlook.pst file size, given that I have plenty of hard disk space available.

If so, how is that done? I looked around for a maximum size option, but I could not find one.

Thank you for your help,
Fulano

Hi clonyxlro, I'm using Windows 7. I followed the insructions on the page you provided, but my Registry does not have the keys that the instruction is showing. Did things change in Windows 7?
Here is a thought..

Backup (create a copy of the problem pst)..

Launch Outlook or use the Mail Settings Applet in the Control Panel..

Create a new PST..  Call it "Shave off" or something meaningful..

Go to your problem PST..  Move off like the last 180 days or 90 days or data to the new PST..

If you are still unable to send, close out of Outlook and you may need to compact and / or compact and repair the pst..  Then, try again.

Couple of tools to help:  Scanpst and scanost.
Thanks 2013 did it. Glad I upgraded.
