How do I know which device is '\Device\Harddisk3\DR3' and how do I fix this problem?
The server is a Dell PowerEdge and the O/S is Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise

The windows event logs has .
SOURCE = Disk and EVENT ID =11
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk3\DR3.

The backup Exec 2012 displays this error for the same event
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk3\DR3.

This error signifies controller errors. These errors are generally caused by hardware that is not functioning correctly. To resolve these errors, try the following actions:

- Slow the SCSI bus.
- Verify that the latest SCSI drivers and firmware are loaded.

It says that your HDD3 is faulty. Means that HDD3 on slot 3 is bad or having problems. Go into RAID configuration utility and check there the drives.

In RAID Configuration utility actually. Or you can refer to motherboard or RAID controller manual and see the numbering of the slots.

I spoke to Dell pro support. They would not guarantee that disk3 on the error message corresponds to  disk3 on he controller but you may be correct.
