Assign a value to a field based on a table that tells me which field to grab on load

I am not sure I was clear on the title but here goes my question:

On load of a form I do a lookup from a table.  The table allows the user to define the grouping and order they would like to see fields in.  In addition the user can define the label names of those fields.

I have the form loading and assigning the labels in the proper order.  Now I need to assign the corresponding field data to the unbound field.

From a recordset I have the field name i need to assign to a text box.  How do I do that?

me.field1.caption = recordset("label")  no prob
me.field1 = ?  recordset("fieldname") contains the value of the column in need to load the data from

i hope i am making sense.

That'll be:

Me!field1.ControlSource = recordset("fieldname")
