Install Linux from USB Drive

Hi,

I dont have cd drom for my laptop and need to install linux using from my usb key. What is the best way to do it? Just copy the iso to usb key and boot from usb?

You can download the Linux Live USB creator here:

http://www.linuxliveusb.com

and use it to 'burn' your favorite Linux distribution to you USB drive, then boot from it and install.

The essence is that just copying will not work as this will not make your USB drive bootable, you need an application to do that for you. Don't forget to set your boot sequence to USB (removable) first or press the one-time-boot-menu key for your BIOS / laptop. Have fun!

It really depends on the ISO image and BIOS.
Most of them have boot floppy image and partition table embedded, so you can boot on almost any system.
At least knoopix or suse boots that way, i thing ubuntu needs unetbootin or whatever that was called.
