COUNTIF syntax

I am trying to count the number of values between 0.85 and 1.15 in a data range with this function:

The returned value is 0 when, in fact, it should be two since there are two values between 0.85 and 1.15

Any thoughts on how I should restructure this function?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Here's one other way:
=COUNTIF(E7:E56,">=.85") - COUNTIF(E7:E56,">1.15")
