Moving the Shared Users Data from A SBS 2011 server to another server in the domain.

How do I make a member server that we run on our network visible to the SBS 2011 move shared folders wizards?
I want to move the users shared folders, But to a drive on another server that is a member in the Domain. Right now the other server is not a choice in the wizard. all the wizard is seeing is the local drive on the SBS box. Or maybe I should be asking if it is possibile.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Install server 2008 or 12 on a new server, Join it to the domain as a member server.  Use Robocopy to move the shares with current permissions to the new server, update the login script(s) so their data shares are mapped on the new server instead of the old one.

You might have a few loose ends to clean up, but that should be most of it.

Hope this helps!

Create the share on the member server, then from the SBS box map a drive letter to that share.  then re-run the wizard and you should be able to select that drive letter as the destination

I tried this but ran into issues with permissions and read only attribute. Another thing I did not mention that might make this more difficult is I don't want to move them all at once. I would like to start with mine, get the process mastered then move on to the other users.

When it comes to the wizard it's all or nothing.
there is no magic way to fix the share and security permission...just keep comparing the current with new destination
