Crystal report chart with Sub-report data

I created a report with a sub-report that has a shared variable. The shared variable outputs the data on the main report and now I would like to create a chart from this data. When I create the chart, I can only see the main report data, not the sub-report data.

Maybe it is not possble to chart sub-report data on a main report chart?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

No you can't do that.

Crystal uses a multiple pass method to build the report.  Subreports are the last thing built in the report and are evaluated after all the charts are built.

Can you build the chart in the subreport?

I have tried and I could not get it to work.

The date range then becomes the challenge.
You can pass the date range to the subreport
