Ethernet connection does not work

Hi Experts,

I recently had to re-install Windows 7 on my Dell PC. Afterwards, it would only recognize the Wi-Fi adaptor to connect to the Internet.  I assumed it was because it hadn't installed the Ethernet driver.  I downloaded all the Windows updates and installed all the drivers but it would still not find the Ethernet connection.  I took the Wi-Fi card out of the PC and re-installed Windows 7 hoping it would find the Ethernet connection.  That didn't work either.

Do you have any ideas how to fix this problem?  I would like to get the Ethernet connection corrected before proceeding with downloading all of the Windows updates.

Is the ethernet adapter an onboard one or add in?  Is it seated in the slot properly. If onboard is it enabled in tye BIOS? Have you tried a different ethernet card?

It is an on board one. There were no issues with it prior to reinstalling Win 7. It appears to be slotted ok. I haven't tried a different card. The device manager doesn't show an ethernet card installed. I don't know how to check if it is enabled in the bios.  How do I check that?

I finally got it to work by reinstalling the drivers again
