Adobe Acrobat 7.0 error message

Font Capture: Acrobat.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x0308bd2b" referenced memory at "0x0350ea71". The memory could not be "written". Click OK to terminate the program

I get this error message every time I close down Adobe Acrobat 7.0. I click on the OK button it closes down and then all seems well. It only appears when the software is being closed down.
Can I have some help please so that this message doesn't appear?

Depending on o.s go to

C:\Program Files \Adobe\Reader 7\Reader\plug_ins

Cut - copy all the plugins outside the folder copy five at a time and then launch acrobat. If you are able to launch and close adobe then copy the next five. ..do this until you find the faulty plugin.

OK we can rule out incompatibility as XP and 7 works, whilst the plugins is worth a shot, the Memory written error on any version of Acrobat has no fixed solution. In fact in Adobe forums you can read pages and pages with suggestions on how to fix this without a clear pattern, including removing plugins.

I would also suggest you manually reapply the latest updates. There seem to be at least two people that had incomplete or corrupted web updates that seemed to have caused the behaviour to first appear.

Download the updates from here.

Is it possible to retrace your steps to explore what change on your system may have caused this?

ok done the update but not fixed. This problem first appeared quite some time ago so no chance of retracing.

This is impossible to trace without more info.

Any security software running? anything else special worth mentioning?

Security software is AVG Antivirus 2013 (full), & Windows Firewall. Every 2 weeks do computer 'housekeeping'  including 'Exterminate It' (the software) malware downloads and run the malware. Adobe Acrobat 7.1.0 runs perfectly well as far as I can tell except for the error message as stated above. I do have 11 other Adobe programs on my computer (all legitimate) including CS3 Suite, bought at the the same time as the Acrobat 7.1.0.

thanks for your time

If you temporarily disable first AVG then the firewall, just long enough for a programme close, so that we can eliminate either of the two causing this?

Worth starting there

done both of those - sorry forgot to mention - as you suggested, but has made no difference. Could the version of Adobe Reader (latest) be clashing with this older version of Acrobat?

captainCommented:
Oh, I see. I did not think as far as Reader when you mentioned other Adobe Products.

In practice Reader has never caused any issues for me but I also never had two versions that far apart installed simultaneously.

It is a possibility, that Reader affects a v7 install although I don't know why it. Would only on close.

I would remove it and do a repair install of the latest v7 and checkout the results. If nothing else but to eliminate a clash if there is none
