Will this spec run WS 2008?

Hi all,
Looking to buy a new/refurbished machine that will run Win Server 2008 to essentially run some software tools I made and give me remote access into it etc.

I was planning on getting a refurbished machine. Would this machine be powerful enough to do what I nthis machine eed?

There are other machines by that seller, if you feel there's better suited ones, please help me by pointing them out. But, ideally if the machine I mentioned above will comfortably run WS2008 R2 then that's probably all I need.

Thanks in advance!

Oh yes it will.  System has only 8 GB RAM which may not be sufficient for what you may require and if that is the case, the system is expandable.

So currently this is what I am using https://manage.liquidweb.com/manage/signup/configure.html?category=storm&config_id=4&product=SS.VPS&product_override=SS.VPS.WIN#stormvps

It has 4 gb of ram and runs Windows Server 2008. I find it runs out of memory every now and then. Im not planning on using the new PC/Server for much web traffic. I just figure that as Im spening over $200 pm for a VPS then I should be able to find a more robust solution that I can monitor in the office.

So, do you think with 8Gb ram it will be enough for me given that Im running this on 4gb at the moment? Also, my VPS has Plesk on it, is that a freely available platform I can install over WS 2008?

Thanks!

That Pc should run Win 2008 but depending on what you run on it, it probably won;'t be real fast. If it's going to be a test server for experimentation, then I don't see much of a problem unless you need more than 8 gigs of ram. You should be able to increase it and Windows server would probably run better.

What you could do is start running it with 8 GB and also check your apps for updates/upgrades.  What could be happening is that there might be memory leaks and that could be why you are running out of memory.

Well here's the thing - the VPS I have right now runs 4GB and it seems ok most of the time. Would this suggest then that this machine will be ample for my needs given that my current needs work ok with the Liquidweb one?

Yes, if the specs for both machines are the same.... processors(Number & speed), ram, hard drive speed and size.
