Outlook 2007 - offline

My OS is win 7 prof 64 bit and I use office 2007.  I use outlook 2007 and before doing a mail merge, as it had 150 addresses, I took Outlook offline by hiting the 'File', then clicking on the 'Offline'.  Thus the outgoing messages were sitting in my Outbox, and then I went to Outlook and changed to 'online'.  Outlook sent all the messages.  And then I tried to do a 'Send and Receive', but the error was that Outlook was offline.  I checked but the 'Offline' was not checked.  So I quit outlook and reloaded, did a couple of times and still I get the same message.  Now the message is that
"outlook cannot sign in into my account.  Please try again.  We currently cannot access your account, please try again."
Just to make sure that the password is not corrupted, I entered the password again, and checked the "remember password", but I still get the same reminder.  I tried closing outlook and reloading again, but I still get the same error.
Please advise me how to fix this error.  Thank u.

thank u for your response.  It looks somebody has taken control of my msn email account, and I had change the password.  I just cannot understand how the crook did it because I had a good strong one.  I did a office repair, but it did not find any problems.  Thank u everyone for your suggestions.
