Showplan.out on MS Access 2007 on Windows 8

Hi All,

I can't manage to get showplan working.

Access 2007 (version 12.x) , on Windows 8.

I have JETSHOWPLAN=ON in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Access Connectivity Engine\Engines\Debug

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Debug

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Access Connectivity Engine\Engines\Debug

Can anyone suggest where it should be?

Many thanks
K.

This:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Debug

Should be the correct key.

I don't have a setup here at the moment to test this, but that should be the correct key.

Hi Jim,

Thanks (again) for your help on this. I thought so, from your previous answer. Definitely got that key, and can't find showplan.out anywhere on machine (have searched), including CurDir.

Note that's not quite the key you had...

Indeed it was not! Much too subtle for me, sorry! I've added

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Debug

although at the moment I'm still not finding showplan.out

hum...did you see all the other subkeys?   You should have had to add debug.

Sorry I can't test here at the moment.

Jim,

Yes under Engines there's [now] Debug, Excel, Exchange, Jet 2.x, Jet 3.x, Jet 4.0, Lotus, ODBC, Paradox, Text, and xBase (/Engines/ key export added)

Have rebooted machine to no avail.

Looks like for A2007 and up, the correct key is:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Access Connectivity Engine\Engines\Debug

Where 12.0 is replaced with the correct version (12.0 is Office 2007) and assuming it's 32 bit (2010 and up can be 64 bit, in which case you'd drop the Wow6432Node).

Again, this is slightly different then what you posted originally; you were pretty darn close!
