Key board and mouse issues after reinstalling windows xp on new computer

I took an image of my xp drive and put it in a new computer like i have done many of times. Sometimes i have to run the repair xp installation but generally not.  This time it ask me for me product key and the mouse works just fine but as soon as I hit a key on the keyboard both the mouse and keyboard freeze requiring reboot.  It sounds like an irq conflict to me but not sure how to resolve.  I'm using a ps2 mouse and keyboard to try and solve the issue.

Normally, you cannot take a hard drive image from one pc and restore it to another Pc because the other motherboard requires different drivers. i suggest booting from the Windows CD or into safe mode and installing correct drivers for the motherboard you are using..

Yes, it might be an IRQ issue, You will need to go into the BIOS setup and check the IRQ settings for Serial ports, although windows should have been able to correct this on teh fly.

Check other ports as well.
