The build from the VMware site should do the trick.

thanks Paul,
After reading: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=120&prodSeriesId=4268682&prodTypeId=329290&objectID=c03650853
Does this means that I will need to upgrade my HP blade BL 490c G7 Firmware before installing the HP Custom Image for VMware ESXi 5.1.0 Update 1 Install CD from VMware website ?

Ah yes Paul, you are right, the one that I'm downloading: VMware-ESXi-5.1.0-Update1- 1065491-HP -5.50.26.i so is the latest from VMware custom ISO for tHP server).

So what about the ESXi 5.1 offline bundle ?
am I supposed to include that into the .ISO file ?

ah cool, because I was worried to include that offline bundle for the ESXi 4.1 upgrade to ESXi 5.1 U1 in the Blade BL 490c G7 tomorrow.
So I guess the HP customized ESXi VMware-ESXi-5.1.0-Update1- 1065491-HP -5.50.26 is good enough to proceed with the blades upgrade.
Is tehre anything that i need to install for the HP Blades ESXi servers ?

Many thanks for the information Paul,
Based on this doco: http://vibsdepot.hp.com/hpq/recipes/February2013VMwareRecipe5.0.pdf
my current firmware is dated back since 2011, Because I'm not sure which firmware that needs to be upgraded ?
c7000 enclosure ? Virtual Connect Module ?
Bl 490c G7 -- iLO ? System ROM ?
Should I do the Firmware upgrade after the ESXi upgrade or before the ESXi upgrade ?

Thanks Paul,
in this page: http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/vmware/supportmatrix/hpvmware.html I can see that the HP Blades BL 490c G7 got the check box, but I can't see if any minimum firmware is needed ?
it only says that "recommended"

But luckily, upon confirming with the VMware HCL page: http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/detail.php?deviceCategory=server&productid=12839&releaseid=201&deviceCategory=server&partner=41&releases=201&systemTypes=1&page=1&display_interval=100&sortColumn=Partner&sortOrder=Asc
My ROM Version is I28 01/29/2011 from the OnBoard Admin :-)
