custom tags types

I was reading about below custom tags types

A. Simple Tags (<hellotags:firsthellotag/>)
B. Tags having Attributes (<hellotags:firsthellotag name="dora"/>)
C. Tags having Body
( <hellotags:firsthellotag textCase="upper">
This is dora toy

when to use which one. what are advantages and disadvantages, practical uses of each one.

Where to place TLD file. Any web.xml entry needed for TLD. Getting comlilation error at <tag> and <taglib>  etc in TLD file.

Any good sample examples on each one.

Please advise.

Any links resources ideas highly appreciated. Thanks in advance

You need to put them in the WEB-INF/ folder. For a very basic tutorial have a look here.
