Exchange Mailbox Redundancy

Can someone point to me some resources or quick technical brief on how to set up redundancy for Exchange mailboxes. For example, when a user accesses a mailbox and the Exchange server goes down for patching, the user is still able to access mail. I am a technical guy, but not an Exchange guy by any measure. Thanks!

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Exchange 2010 you would setup a DAG (database availability group).

For exchange 2007 you setup HA:  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124721(v=exchg.80).aspx
