VOIP Problems with the Sonicwall TZ205

We have a Sonicwall TZ205 Unit in our office.  We also have a VOIP system that requires that we allow traffic from a specific range of WAN IP addresses.  We have never done that before on this firewall type.  I am pretty sure that you first have to create an address group with the IP range you want to open but not sure how to apply it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi mcgowray,

What kind of problems are you having (e.g. spotty connections, no dial tone, call drops, etc.)?
Which VoIP protocols are in use (H.323, SIP)?
Is the vendor completely H.323 or SIP Compliant?
Where is the VOIP server located (e.g. behind the SonicWALL, in the Cloud, etc.)?
Without the answers to my questions...it sounds like you will need to setup Address Objects, then put them into an Address Object Group.
Then create a NAT policy to allow all the specific WAN IPs to access your server internally.
You will want to enable consistent NAT as well. Here's how...
Enabling Consistent NAT:
1. Select VoIP > Settings.
2. Activate the Enable Consistent NAT check box.
3. Click Apply.

Here is how to create Address Objects: https://www.fuzeqna.com/sonicwallkb/ext/kbdetail.aspx?kbid=7486
Here is how to create a custom NAT Policy: https://www.fuzeqna.com/sonicwallkb/ext/kbdetail.aspx?kbid=7979

But without the answers my approach could change.

If its a SIP protocol used you will not need to open anything on the WAN > LAN side as traffic is generated from within (LAN > WAN) and by default everything is allowed in this direction.

Let me know how it goes!
