I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The default limit is 2.5 GB which you can adjust if you go to the exchange general tab in ADUC on the server you can change the storage limits.

Go into Exchange 2010 and raise the mailbox size limit. I suggest 20 gigs rather than 2.5 if you have enough disk space.

Change the mailbox size limit. For that open EMC (http://www.resolvesolutions.co.uk/article/changing-mailbox-size-exchange-2007-2010-2013):
Organization Configuration > Mailbox > Database Management. You'll find the settings in the properties of the Database, Limits Tab

After you made the changes it can take up to two hours for the new setting to take affect.
As a workaround you can restart MSExchangeIS.

Increase the mailbox size manually then you can move to the exchange 2010 mailbox database. after completion of moving mailbox you can revert back to mailbox size or default
