How come you are adding a Thawte certificate under security-manage trust

Any perticular reason?

If you see the picture I attached, I have tried running that Power Shell script with a different error.

I following a guide for adding a ssl cert, that tells me to do this

What are you trying to achieve?  Are you trying to apply SSL to one of your SharePoint sites?  If so and if you've already created your web app and set it for SSL, you just need to apply the cert to the site in IIS (just like any other IIS site that uses SSL)
