Quickbooks "Connection has been Lost"

Quickbooks users are being kicked off of their company file with the error "Connection Has Been Lost".

They are all accessing the files via shared mapped drive. They are all using multiuser mode. Issue started happening after an upgrade from Enterprise 12 to Enterprise 13. The server for the QB files is Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Did you download all the latest updates for quickbooks on the main server installation?  Depending on how you are setup here is the guide for resolving the issue that would apply to your infrastructure.  Just some things to check inside quickbooks

Are they actively using the quick books when the connection is lost? Or is QB just open on their system.  On the server did you remove the old version before installing the new QBmanager?  I have noticed that a lot of times it leaves the old version behind if you just upgrade it. Then you have multiple QBmanager services running and it causes issues.  First thing I'd do is disable any remnant QB services and make sure the current one is running and that you have ran the manager and scanned the location (map the drive on the server too) I scan both the local and mapped folders for the company file.
If not actively using it, it may be that windows is dropping the network drive (does this after 15min by default) and QB doesn't like it.  To eliminate the windows disconnect change it from 15 minutes to 65535 minutes by {BE Very Careful using REGEDIT} Regedit
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\AutoDisconnect
default value = F (15min) change to FFFF (65535min) reboot workstation. Do this on server too if you are only scanning the mapped drive in QBmanager for the the company file.

I have updated to the latest versions for the server and the user workstation. I had intuit tier two support uninstall and re install quick books on the server.

They are both actively using and idle when being booted. I upgraded the users workstations. I will test uninstalling and re-installing to rule out the possibility of the multiple QB services running.

I cannot scan the Mapped drive, I receive the error " The selected path is not a local drive, please only scan local folders."

On the server it should not be referencing a share and should be installed locally with the data.  The other quickbooks installations should be installed without the database services.

Server:  Install option should be I will be using quickbooks and the data will be store here

Workstation:  I will be using quickbooks and data is stored on another system

So you server is stating that message?  And the quickbooks database manager cannot find it?  I know I had an issue with trying to use that quick install on the server that does not use the license.  So you open up the DB manager, do a scan and it finds it but if that window is closed nobody can access it.  I was on the horn with quickbooks for a while with no resolution so I installed quickbooks as if it was going to be used (which absorbed a license) on the server to get past that issue.  Sometimes quickbooks is a pain :)

Just go into services on the server and check for multiple qb services running make sure old ones are stopped and new one is running

The error message is on the user's workstations. I have no issues scanning the local folder that the QB files are in.

The issue seemed to have gone away this morning then it booted users off. The event viewer on the server is showing a system error around the same time.

"The following fatal alert was generated: 10. The internal error state is 1203."
