Fatal Error: The WSUS synchronization service (WsusService) cannot be stopped.

Just tried moving our WSUS content folder and got error message "Fatal Error: The WSUS synchronization service (WsusService) cannot be stopped."

I used the following syntax:

wsusutil.exe movecontent "Path of the new content" "Path of the logfile"

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Can you manually stop the service from the services applet?

It's not listed. I can't find either "WSUS synchronization service" or "WsusService"

It will be listed in the Services applet as Update Services

Here's what I did:

Did server cleanup per http://www.bdhtechnology.com/help/wsus.php

Cleanup freed about 107GB.

After server cleanup, disabled Windows Update service and Update Services service (2 services disabled). In command prompt, ran command "wsusutil.exe movecontent f:\wsus\wsuscontent f:\wsusmove091913.log"
