Edit text in Firefor or Chrome

I believe that in Chrome and Firefox there are ways to update text.

I am using .php pages

I find in Inspect Element that I can edit text but can find no ways to save the edit.

Can anyone please tell me how this can be carried out?

Many thanks

John

What is the destination for the edited text after the edits have been performed?

You can edit text or any component of a web page by using a plugin on your browser like greasemonkey.

There might be a simpler way or other plugins you can use if you simply want to edit the text in a page.

You cannot save edits done in inspect.  It is a diagnostic tool and the ability to edit is there for testing and experimentation only.

Sorry Ray I dont understand the question.
Just have text I wish to change on the page.

I downloaded Greasemonkey and it seems to have hundreds of script to choose from. Any ideas on what I should use to carry out code edits on a page?

Thanks

If you are trying to edit an HTML page, you use a text editor, not a browser.

Please show us the URL of the page and tell us what you want to change.

After you have made the changes, where do you want to save the changes?

The page is a php page and is composed with includes within includes. Makes it very difficult to track down code for change.

I even did a complete directory search for the words I could see but could not find any files which included the term "Change Method" just wanted to change it to "Change Payment Method"

I dont yet have the site on a live server but will do soon so then will let you know.
Thank you

OK, so if I understand it correctly, you have PHP code stored in "plain text" files.  Or maybe you have some parts of the code and text stored in a data base.  If you hvae a code scanner it can be helpful.  I use Textpad "Find in Files" for this sort of thing.  It has the options to use regular expressions and case-sensitivity.  You might try searching for just "Change" instead of Change Method.  The latter could be rendered with some kind of invisible whitespace that does not match the single blank character.

Thanks Ray
I carried out a search in TextPad and the term change method was not found.

I then carried out a search in Dreamweaver and it was found immediately. The changes required are in .css files so perhaps that explains why the term was not found.

btw
I find that awarding 20 points to every answer is a waste of time. I am also having a lot of trouble waiting for pages to open, which they do very slowly.
