Read xml file

I kept getting this msg - "a query must end with a select clause or a group clause"

string xmlFile = "";
            xmlFile = @"C:\test.xml";
            XDocument xdoc = new XDocument();
            using(StreamReader readerx = new StreamReader(xmlFile))
             {
                xdoc = XDocument.Load(readerx);
                var ArrResults = from c in xdoc.Descendants("book");  //right here <<<<
                foreach(XElement rex in ArrResults)
                {

                }
             }

Hi VBdotnet2005;

The XDocument class has static methods one of them being Load which when used will load the xml file into the variable and there is no need of using a using statement to close the reader which is also not needed and the system will clean up itself. The following code snippet will also do what you want.

string xmlFile = "";
xmlFile = @"C:\test.xml";
XDocument xdoc = XDocument.Load(xmlFile);

var ArrResults = from c in xdoc.Descendants("book")
                 select c;

foreach(XElement rex in ArrResults)
{

}
