Ah right. Thanks for that. I can see the difference on an Excel sheet now. My list of Extended ASCII characters shows Dec 146 as a diphthong AE, but it displays as a single quote as you state.<br />

I'm trying to establish what the ASCII code is for an apostrophe character in a cell.<br />
I did a CODE() on the cell and it returned 146.<br />

Yet when I translate that number as an ASCII code it doesn't show as an apostrophe, but converts as a AE diphthong.<br />

Bit confused on this subject. Are there two apostrophe characters ?<br />
