Domain controller query

Ok i have a VM and a Physical DC at one of my remote sites.
I am testing to see if i can remotely manage the host via vsphere with the VM DC offline, but i am unable to connect using my windows credentials..

Ideas?

Can you login using Local Administrator credentials?

or connect directly to ESXi using root username and password.

ah i see that the secondary DNS server IP on the host was old/wrong.  But cant change it...

ok, it changed, eventually.
Still cant remote in.  The primary DC is offline so assumed the secondary would allow windows auth to work?

So it has DHCP, DNS and a DC.
But looks like DNS isnt working...

running nslookup on the DC thats online coming up with:

timeouts..
