Malware locked my out of PROXY settings on Internet Options

Recently had a malware attack on Laptop.   Have fixed most problems except for an issue with a PROXY.   I open internet explorer and it cant go to a website because of a proxy.   I go to internet option --> connections --> Lan Settings....  Everything is grayed out and I cant unselect automatically detect settings.   I looked around GPEDIT but cant find where it locked.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Do you have a restore point to go to?

If you have, try booting up your computer in safe mode command prompt and type rstrui.exe to restore your laptop to an earlier point. If it works, this would be the easiest and quickest way to resolve your problem.

Run Malwarebytes Antimalware after the system is restored.
One of the options in "RogueKiller" is an automated PROXY fix.
