XP Recovery CD for Fujitsu Siemens amilo pro laptop

Hello Experts.  I have an old  Fujitsu Siemens Amilo pro laptop which suddenly crashed on me  and I had to reinstall.  I discovered that I have lost the CDs that came with the laptop and I thought I would be ok because I have the license stick under the laptop.  So  I borrowed an xp SP2 cd from a colleague and tried to re install.  My problem is that it rejects my perfectly  valid  license cd.    Can any one advise where I can  get a copy of the original fujitsu siemens recovery disk?  I have the license sticker and serial numbers etc for proof of valid license.

There are 3 different versions of XP.  XP Home edition, XP Professional edition, and XP Media Center edition.  After that there are different types of each edition.  OEM, Retail, Volume License.  Most likely you need an OEM type to install on your computer with the key on the bottom and you need to make sure you get the right version.

You can try to find one on ebay, or amazon.  Most likely your computer is too old to order recovery disks from Fujitsu but you can try here is their contact page http://www.fujitsu.com/us/contact/

The laptop will have been provided with an OEM version of windows, this uses a different set of licence keys to the retail version. In addition some OEM versions check the BIOS to make sure that its running on the manufacturers hardware. Have you contacted Fujitsu Siemens ?

You can't get them from Fujitsu any more so you may have to look for resellers on that famous online auction house or you may have some luck with a small PC store.  If the SP2 CD you borrowed wasn't a generic OEM version it may also be worth trying to get hold of an SP2 System Builder CD.  OEM CD's from other manufacturers are unlikely to work and Fujitsu used SLP BIOS locking on their OEM CDs to check for their hardware at reinstall.

Some background that might be helpful on finding the right CD and why that's important for the Key you use

Hi Experts.  Thank you for your responses.   I will contact Fujitsu as well as try to find the system builder cd.  I will also check the ebay and the like.
